Splendid view into Nathdwara's Splendour

Krishna as Shrinathji: Rajashthani Paintings from Nathdwara can be a delightful book for someone who wants to get a glimpse of Indian temple and can be a source of great reading pleasure for someone who wants to get imbued in the spirit of what represents Nathdwara.
Shrinathji is an incarnation of Krishna. He is one of the deities worshiped by the Gujratis from Western India. Nathdwara is a place that has become famous because of the Shreenathji temple. The various ceremonies in the temple begin at the dawn of the day and continue till midnight. The ceremonies are all dedicated to Shreenathji. Shreenathji at dawn is awakened by special music. After the pujari (priest) prepare the deity for the first "darshan" (sight) of the day. Then there is the breakfast offering and the morning puja. After the first darshan, the temple is close while the deity rests and the pujaris prepare for the second major event of the day. The second time the temple is open for aarti (puja) is after 10 am. This time Shreenathji is adorned with finery and jewels that befit the time of the day. The temple closes again. The temple is open in the afternoon and the deity is offered lunch. This time too the shringar depends on the time of the day. This cycle of darshans, offerings and bhakti continue during the day and evening. The pujaris in the temple depending on the time of the day and the season of the year do the Shringar (beautify - adoring the deity with finery and jewels ) for the dity.
